The Cave of Perama (Perama Cave)
The Cave of Perama is a stunning natural attraction located near the village of Perama, just 4 kilometres northwest of Ioannina, in northwestern Greece. It lies on the slopes of Goritsa Hill, part of the limestone massif of Mount Mitsikeli. The Cave of Perama was formed approximately 1.5 million years ago due to the karstic erosion of limestone rock. It is renowned for its magnificent display of stalactites, stalagmites, and columns adorn its chambers and corridors. The cave spans over 1,100 meters, with a visitor path of around 850 meters. The temperature inside the cave remains relatively constant at around 17°C (62°F), making it a pleasant experience for visitors.
