The Voyatzis Family originates from Velvedos 30 km east of Kozani. Members of the family’s third generation, Yannis, who studied oenology at the University of Bordeaux, France and has substantial experience in the Greek wine production, together with his brother Niko, an engineer, and their father Harissis, decided to return to Velvento to establish a new, privately-owned vineyard and a winery. Near the lake and at the place of an old vineyard of the Voyatzis family, a new, modern vineyard was replanted during the period 1991-1994. This now covers 40Ha with local and other international varieties aiming to produce high-quality wines, which combine particularity with distinctive character.
The winery is equipped with special venues for receiving visitors and for wine tasting.
TOUR AND TASTING
The tour includes a walk in the vineyard, a visit to the winery, an audio-visual presentation, and a wine tasting session, after which visitors can make their purchases.
