Description
Ampelourgia Mpeka was established in 1998 as a vertically integrated production unit in the Peloponnese. Operations span two regions — Arkadia and Corinthia — with 50 acres of vineyards and an additional 10 acres for Sultanina table grapes, plus aromatic herbs such as oregano, all under organic farming principles.
The stone winery sits in the village of Chotousa, Mantinea, Arkadia, at approximately 800 metres altitude. Grape cultivars include Moschofilero, Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, Moschato, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, all organically grown.
Winery Tour and Wine Tasting
- Wine Education Class: Participate in a structured two-hour wine class covering the fundamental principles of wine appreciation — tasting methodology, grape variety recognition, and food pairing principles
- Estate Wine Learning Tool: Use Ampelourgia Mpeka’s diverse Peloponnesian wine range as the educational medium — experiencing how different varieties, production methods, and vintages create different wine profiles
- Certification Tasting: Complete the class with a comprehensive tasting that reinforces the wine knowledge gained during the session
Wine appreciation classes are held in the subterranean hall of the winery, which can accommodate around 20 individuals. Seated around the monastery-style table, a sommelier guides you through the world of wine — covering wine knowledge, flavor recognition, and the art of pairing food and wines. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned enthusiast, all are welcome. Explore more Peloponnese experiences.
