Vakakis Winery began producing wines in 2011 under genuinely adverse circumstances — not only the Greek financial crisis, but also a law in force since 1934 that mandated the entire grape production of Samian vineyards be vinified exclusively by cooperatives. Against this backdrop, Vakakis founded a pioneering independent winery on Aegean Islands Samos with a clear philosophy: to produce a small number of wines of superior quality from rare local indigenous varieties, bottled with aesthetic care, and destined to become the most recognisable ambassadors for the unique Samian vineyard. Our organic vineyard was planted between 2004 and 2012, as for our facilities they are small but functional including wine-making and bottling facilities based in the area of M.
