ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Our day begins with a delicious treat: Grandma Maria’s famous bougatsa, a traditional pastry that epitomises the rich flavours of Ioannina and brings generations of family tradition to your plate.

Next, we’ll meander through the charming alleys of the old town to the “Gyali Kafene,” a beloved historic coffee shop where the aroma of freshly roasted coffee greets you the moment you walk in. It’s the perfect spot to savour a cup and soak in the local atmosphere.

From there, we’ll visit a traditional delicatessen run by our dear friends from Metsovo. You’ll sample exceptional cheeses, artisanal cold cuts, and fine local wine, all lovingly made by a family of cheesemakers who have honed their craft over generations.

Our journey continues with a visit to the iconic Ioannina Castle, where we’ll wander through its storied pathways, reliving the dramatic tales of Ali Pasha and the tragic legend of Kyra-Frosini. The castle’s stone walls hold centuries of fascinating history waiting to be discovered.

To conclude this delightful experience, we’ll indulge in handmade syrupy desserts—sweet, decadent, and unforgettable. These traditional confections are the crowning touch to a day full of flavour, culture, and discovery.
