Description

After Giorgos Kariofyllis completed his studies at the Aegean University of Rhodes, he decided to pursue his dream by returning to his ancestral lands in the mountainous village of Lepetymnos on the island of Lesbos, by establishing a farm with diverse species of animals, such as deer, wild sheep, dwarf goats, peacocks, and pheasants.
The pursuit began in 2013 after completing the first facilities, acquired some animals and began the cultivation of aronia (chokeberries).
Aronia, a so-called superfood, is among the most nutritious fruits and holds first place internationally among medicinal plants.
Each year the farm enriches its product line with new products based on aronia, which the farm processes into jam, dried fruit, fresh or frozen fruit (depending on the season) and tea.

TOUR DESCRIPTION AND TASTING
Visitors of the Kariofyli farm can see and learn about the aronia plant and its cultivation and connect with a variety of harmoniously co-existing farm animals, feed them, and learn their habits (breeding, living in the wild, grazing).
The experience is of great interest to adults, and especially to children, making the farm popular to schools and social clubs.
Visitors will be able to taste our products, such as aronia jam, dried aronia fruit and aronia tea, and receive detailed information on aronia as a super food. Upon leaving from the farm, visitors can make purchases of fresh eggs, pure honey and other Bio Aronia Lesvos products.
