In Greece, the highly anticipated wine event known as VorOina is set to take place in Thessaloniki this fall. Originating in Aristotelous Square and later relocating to Pier 1 in the Port of Thessaloniki, it has become an iconic symbol of the city. The term “VorOina,” a clever play on words combining “north” and “wine,” has been the focal point of the wine and spirit tasting gatherings hosted by the “Oenologists of Northern Greece” association since 2004.
This year marks a significant shift as the event finds its home in the heart of Thessaloniki’s historic center, within the esteemed Modiano Market, renowned for its rich history intertwined with gastronomy. Recognizing wine as an integral element of a location’s culinary identity and culture, the Modiano Market will host the “VorOina” on its panoramic balcony on Friday, October 20th. Attendees will have the opportunity to savor a diverse selection of wines from the vineyards of Northern Greece, presented by 30 leading wineries from Macedonia and Epirus, all members of the “Winemakers of Northern Greece” association.
The “VorOina” event is an exclusive gathering organized by the office of the “Wine Producers of Northern Greece” association, tailored for its members and catering professionals, as well as wine distributors and wine enthusiasts. Most importantly, it is designed for those with a passion for exceptional Greek wines and a desire to explore the unique creations of esteemed winemakers.
Notably, the “Winemakers of Northern Greece” association celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, having significantly contributed to the development and global promotion of distinguished Greek wines.
