Description
Nikolou Winery, located in the heart of Koropi, 10 km from Athens Airport, is a classical architectural-style building with stone walls and large stone arches, reflecting the family’s long winemaking traditions in the Mesogia wine country of Attica.
The winery has been operating since 1872, engaged in producing retsina. Beginning in 1991, outdated winemaking equipment was gradually replaced by modern stainless-steel temperature-controlled tanks, allowing the traditional Savatiano grape variety to reveal its full aromatic and flavorful potential.
It is worth tasting the retsina, the local sweet wine called “Nama,” and a special sparkling retsina based on traditional bottle fermentation.
Your visit includes an exclusive tour of the production premises and centuries-old cellar, accompanied by a briefing and video narrating the winery’s history since its founding. Then roll up your sleeves for a hands-on cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare beloved Greek traditional dishes — creamy tzatziki, savory moussaka, and refreshing Greek salad.
Afterward, delight in a wine-paired buffet dinner featuring your culinary creations alongside freshly baked bread, flaky cheese pie, spinach pie, traditional mousounda pie, mussels, marinated anchovies (Gavros marinatos), and Greek “provatina” lamb chops, concluded with a delectable dessert.
As you dine, sample six exquisite wines — sparkling, white, red, and sweet — each expertly paired to enhance the flavors of your meal. Before you leave, visit the winery’s showroom to purchase your favorite wines.
