Attika (Attica or Attiki) is a region of great historical significance in Central Greece and is home to the city of Athens. Wine was always considered to be among the most important and appreciated products in Ancient Athens. Local wine from around Athens would travel across the then-known world in the Attican amphorae. Today wine producers cultivate not only the indigenous, “Savatiano” being the most important grape variety of the region, but also other international varieties, producing top-quality wines that have earned Attica a fine position on the international wine map.
