World Xinomavro Day on November 1st is a momentous occasion celebrated by the “Winemakers of Northern Greece” with exciting events in Athens and Thessaloniki. This day offers a unique opportunity for wine enthusiasts, professionals, and connoisseurs to explore the diverse expressions of Xinomavro wines.

In Athens, the “Voroina of Xinomavro” takes centre stage with various captivating activities, including a free tasting of Xinomavro wines from Macedonia in all their delightful variations. Moreover, engaging masterclasses provide an immersive experience, offering blind tastings of this multidimensional variety from the latest vintage to as far back as 2007, showcasing the evolution of specific labels over time. The themed room, “The Aged,” features vintages dating back to 1996, providing an enriching encounter guided by a knowledgeable sommelier.

The Vorina of Xinomavro in Athens will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 17:00 to 22:00 at the 36 Amalias Building, 36 Amalias Avenue, Athens, Greece. The masterclasses are scheduled for 17:30-18:30 & 19:30-20:30. An entrance fee of 10 euros grants access to the free wine tasting and the themed room.

In Thessaloniki, the “Expressions of Xinomavro” will be showcased at The Wine Hub, the tasting room of the “Wine Producers’ Association of Northern Greece”. This event, also on November 1, 2023, from 16:00 to 21:00, invites attendees to experience a diverse array of Xinomavro wines, including Blanc de noir, rosé, and red dry wines, single varietal and blended. Complementing the tasting, various delectable bites will be provided, enhancing the understanding of the wine’s aromas and organoleptic characteristics.
