Argatia Winery is a small, family-owned boutique winery founded in 2004 in Rodochori, a picturesque village near the historic wine town of Naoussa, in Macedonia, Northern Greece. Situated at an altitude of approximately 450 meters on the eastern slopes of Mount Vermio, the winery benefits from a unique microclimate characterised by cool nights, moderate daytime temperatures, and well-drained soils — ideal conditions for cultivating premium wine grapes.
Argatia’s principal focus is crafting high-quality wines under the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) of Naoussa, centred on the indigenous Greek grape variety Xinomavro — widely regarded as one of Greece’s most noble and age-worthy grapes.
The vineyards are cultivated organically, with great respect for nature. By avoiding synthetic chemicals and emphasising manual vineyard work, Argatia ensures each grape reflects the terroir’s authenticity and the family’s philosophy.
The visit typically begins with a guided walk through the experimental vineyard at the front of the winery, where guests learn about grape varieties, organic cultivation techniques, and the influence of local terroir.
