Korogonas Ark was born at the end of 2012 upon the virgin land of the small Korogonas plateau in southern Peloponnese, 25 km west of Monemvasia and 25 km south of Molaoi. It is a member of the Global Ecovillages Network (GEN), situated approximately 120 meters above sea level with clean air and a mild climate.
With nature their primary concern, the founders preserve the area’s wild flora in all its biodiversity. Wild olive, carob and pear trees, wild asparagus, and herbs are protected alongside more than 300 cultivated trees and a variety of bushes.
Olives from both wild olive trees (Olea oleaster) and cultivars are harvested exclusively by hand, without machines, and may be consumed as olives and super-olive oil — considered a superfood. Carobs and wild sage blossoms are also gathered by hand for their healing benefits.
Visitors are introduced to a low eco-footprint and zero-waste way of life through regenerative farming, permaculture practices, tree pruning, natural fencing, composting, and wise water management. Visits can last from a few hours to several days depending on individual or group interests.
