Melas-Epidavros Olive Oil Domain was founded in 1994 by Evangelos Melas — son of a third-generation olive oil producer — in Lygourio, near Epidavros in the Argolida prefecture of the Peloponnese. An organic farmer with deep knowledge and extensive experience, Melas built the estate on a philosophy of uncompromising quality and international market focus from day one. Among the company’s first products was the extra virgin olive oil of the Manaki variety, a PDO “Ligourio Asklepios” product recognised by the EU in 1996 and celebrated in many countries for its unique quality characteristics and flavour. By 2008, growing international demand led to expansion of the company’s facilities.
