Ktima Kakkavos

Just 5km outside Messolonghi, between the great rivers Acheloos and Evinos in Central Greece, Kakkavos Estate manages one of Greece’s largest olive farms — 40 hectares with 6,000 olive trees. This remarkable estate also produces premium bottarga (avgotaraho) from the legendary lagoon of Messolonghi. The estate has belonged to our family since 1870 and has recently been extended, reviving cultivations using modern scientific methods that respect both the tradition of the olive tree and the environment, to produce Kalamata olives as well as olive oil from four different varieties of olive trees.
