Experience the Best of Greek Gastronomy Festival
Curated by the team behind Gastronomos, the festival brings together chefs, producers, restaurants, food artisans and gastronomy experts from across Greece for one of the biggest celebrations of Greek cuisine in Athens.
For two days, Pireos 260 becomes a meeting point for the people, flavours and traditions that define Greek gastronomy. From beloved regional dishes and traditional recipes to exceptional Greek wines and some of the country’s finest agricultural products, the festival lets visitors discover Greece through its food.
The people behind the food are at the heart of the festival. Meet chefs and cooks Gastronomos has encountered on its travels throughout Greece, discover restaurants, tavernas and traditional cafés hidden in unexpected corners of the country, and hear from producers dedicated to preserving and revitalising Greek agricultural traditions.
Gastronomos affectionately calls these passionate characters its “beautiful eccentrics” — people who cook with meraki, passion and soul. They will all be gathering at the festival so visitors can meet them, hear their stories and, most importantly, taste their food.
This year’s festival is particularly special as Gastronomos celebrates 20 years of publication. The event brings together two decades of discovering, documenting and celebrating Greek food culture in one spectacular weekend.
Live Cooking with Greece’s Top Chefs at the Greek Gastronomy Festival
The festival’s main Live Cooking stage will feature some of Greece’s leading chefs, who will demonstrate their techniques, share their knowledge and reveal the secrets behind classic and contemporary Greek cuisine.
Visitors can watch professional chefs cook live and discover new ways of preparing some of Greece’s most-loved dishes and ingredients.
Discover Greek Wine, Olive Oil, Cheese and Honey
Inside the Greek Gastronomy Festival in Piraeus 260, Gastronomos experts will lead visitors through the world of Greek wine and traditional Greek products.
Learn how to taste and appreciate Greek wines, discover the characteristics of exceptional Greek olive oils, explore the country’s remarkable variety of cheeses and find out what makes Greek honey so distinctive.
Producers, scientists, cooks, and traditional craftspeople will also share their knowledge, stories, and experiences through talks, tastings, and hands-on workshops.
Taste Regional Food from Across Greece
The courtyard of Pireos 260 will showcase Greece’s culinary diversity. Twenty restaurants, tavernas and traditional cafés from different parts of the country will cook and serve the flavours of their home regions.
Outdoor kitchens will be firing up throughout the day, giving visitors the chance to sample authentic regional dishes and discover the people and traditions behind them.
From local specialities and traditional recipes to contemporary interpretations of Greek food, the festival offers a unique culinary journey through Greece — all in the heart of Athens.
A Traditional Greek Panigyri
On Saturday evening, the festival will culminate in a spectacular traditional Greek panigyri.
Expect music, dancing, celebration and plenty of delicious Greek food — an authentic taste of one of Greece’s most beloved traditions of communal celebration.
On Sunday, the spotlight moves to Athens’s leading chefs, who will take to the stage for a series of live cooking experiences created especially for festival visitors.
Family Activities, Tastings and Workshops at the Greek Gastronomy Festival
There is plenty for younger visitors too. Creative activities for children, alongside food tastings, workshops and other interactive experiences, make the festival an event for the whole family.
