Premium Red Wine Tasting Event in Athens
The Great Red Wines (GRW) event is a prestigious wine-tasting experience devoted exclusively to high-quality red wines from Greece and around the world. Since 2014, the event has been organised by Vinetum, the team behind Oenorama, Greece’s leading wine exhibition.
A Celebration of the World’s Finest Red Wines
Participation in Great Red Wines is by invitation only. Carefully selected Greek wineries — renowned for the consistent excellence of their red wines — are invited to showcase their best current-vintage red wines, which are commercially available.
Each winery also presents the same label from older vintages, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the ageing potential of fine red wines — one of the most important hallmarks of true wine excellence.
This distinctive concept gives wine lovers a rare opportunity to explore, compare, and understand how great Greek reds evolve — and perhaps inspires them to start building their own wine collections for future enjoyment.
Rare, Aged, and Experimental Wines
Beyond their main selections, many participating winemakers use the event to unveil aged, limited-edition, or experimental wines drawn directly from their private cellars. Some of these bottles are not yet available on the market, making Great Red Wines 2025 the stage for their official debut.
Gala Dinner at the King George Hotel
To mark the occasion, the event’s media sponsor, FNL Guide, will host an elegant gala dinner at the King George Hotel in Athens on Monday, December 9, 2025. This exclusive dinner will pair fine gastronomy with top red wines, celebrating the artistry of winemaking and the culture of refined taste.
