ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Our guided tour begins at the remarkable archaeological site of Ancient Pella, the former capital of Macedonia and the birthplace of Alexander the Great. Wander through the expansive 2,500 square meters of symposium parlors and explore rooms adorned with exquisitely preserved 4th-century B.C. mosaic floors. These mosaics, crafted from tiny natural pebbles, depict vivid scenes such as the lion hunt and Dionysos riding a panther. Unveiled in 1957, this ancient city has been meticulously preserved, allowing you to envision the grandeur of the Ancient Kingdom of Macedonia with insights from our knowledgeable guide.
Next, we visit the enchanting city of Edessa, famously known as the “City of Water.” Take in the awe-inspiring sight of the “Karano” waterfall, meander along frothy rivers crossed by over 47 bridges, and relax in charming little parks. This picturesque outdoor water museum creates a fairytale-like setting. You’ll have some free time here to enjoy a delicious local lunch.
The tour concludes with an exclusive wine-tasting experience at a renowned local winery, celebrated for its “Xinomavro” wine variety. Local producers will guide you through the wine-making process, answer your questions, and invite you to sample their exquisite wines paired with delightful snacks. After this enriching experience, we will return to the meeting points, ensuring you end your day on a high note.
Tip: Ask your guide for lunch recommendations in Edessa to make your visit even more enjoyable!
