North Chios Wine, Nature & Thermal Baths Day Tour

North Chios Day Tour

Location: Northern Chios (Volissos – Egrigoros – Agiasmata)

A Unique Blend of Wine, Nature & Wellness in North Chios

Discover a rare combination of local wine culture, scenic landscapes, and deep relaxation on this immersive day tour through Northern Chios. The experience includes a visit to the island’s only visitable winery, a nature walk through lush valleys, free time by the sea, and rejuvenation at the thermal baths of Agiasmata.

Wine tasting at the winery has an additional cost of €10 per person, payable directly on site.

Optional Stop: Volissos Archaeological Collection

(Available with early booking)

The day may begin with a visit to the Volissos Archaeological Collection, housed in a beautifully restored historic building. Inside, ancient amphorae and relief maps reveal the journey of Ariousios Wine from antiquity across the Mediterranean, Europe, and the Black Sea—highlighting Chios’ long-standing importance in wine history.

Ariousios Winery – Cellar Tour & Wine Tasting

At Ariousios Winery, the only visitable winery on Chios, guests enjoy a guided tour of the underground cellar, where wines mature in French oak barrels. Special attention is given to the flagship wine “Austiros”, aged with precision and care.

Wine tasting follows (optional, €10 per person), and purchases can be safely stored for later collection.

Nature Walk & Botanical Flavors

The experience continues with a scenic downhill hike through a shaded valley filled with pine trees, cypresses, chestnuts, mulberries, and seasonal fruit trees.

Depending on the season, guests may taste:

• Wild asparagus
• Blackberries
• Almonds
• Pears
• Figs

The air is rich with aromas of oregano, balsam (St. John’s Wort), and native herbs. The trail passes small chapels, stone-paved paths, wildflowers, and orchids—especially vibrant in spring—before revealing panoramic views of the untouched Eftychia Beach in Egrigoros.

Sea Break & Village Time

Upon arrival in the village, there is free time to swim in the sea or relax at a traditional café, enjoying light local snacks and refreshments.

Thermal Baths of Agiasmata – Wellness & Relaxation

Next stop: the thermal baths of Agiasmata, known for their therapeutic waters.

Included options (payable on site):

• 20 minutes in private or shared thermal bathtubs (€6)
• 30 minutes of relaxation on comfortable loungers

Optional wellness treatments:

• Reflexology (€15–20)
• Massage (30 or 60 minutes, extra charge)

Operating period: July 1st – October 31st

The day concludes with a meal at one of the area’s authentic local tavernas:

Agiasmata: A traditional café serving simple homemade dishes, house-produced cheeses, and exceptional saganaki.

“Gia Ouzaki” in Volissos: Well-cooked local dishes and handmade spoon sweets prepared with care.
