Description
Evritika Kellaria (Cellars of Evros) is located at the confluence of the Evros and Arda rivers on the northeasternmost side of Greece, opposite the Turkish town of Adrianople and 25 km north of Orestiada. The winery stands on a low hill where the company vineyards lie on its southern slopes, in a landscape whose history stretches back to ancient times as a passage between West and East.
Close to the village of Marasia — where the Evros, Arda, and Tountzas rivers converge — the winery produces wines including “Onar”, “Orpheus”, and “Enigma”, as well as retsina, ouzo, and tsipouro from a recipe preserved for 40 years. Operating since 2004 with modern EU-certified facilities, the winery combines traditional techniques and 50 years of experience with modern technology.
Thracian Wine & Spirits: Winery and Cellar Tour and Tasting
- Riverside Winery Tour: Visit Evritika Kellaria in Thrace and explore the winery’s modern facilities, traditional wine cellar with oak barrels, and a small museum with traditional distillation alembics — at one of Greece’s most geographically extraordinary locations.
- Distillery & Tsipouro Production: Visit the distillery to witness double-distilled tsipouro being produced in traditional bronze, stone-built alembics, and learn about the spirits-making methods of the region.
- Wine & Spirits Tasting: Taste the Evritika Kellaria wines alongside regional retsina, tsipouro, and ouzo — flavours shaped by this unique Thrace river-confluence terroir.
