A few kilometers south of Knossos, and 15 km south of Heraklion, in the heart of the Minoan vineyard at Kounavi village, Yannis Stylianos cultivates on 3 privately owned hectares of his organic vineyard unique native varieties: Vidianos, Thrapsathiri, Vilana, Kotsifali, and Mandilari.
In a boutique winery atop a small hill with a magnificent view of the area, Yiannis Stylianos decided to make the big move in 2003, transforming his passion into a profession. The passion of the amateur was united with his innate professionalism, resulting in a yearly production of roughly 20,000 numbered bottles.
Firmly believing that each place has its unique flavors and resisting the prevailing levelling and uniformity of taste, he produces wines that showcase the comparative advantages of the Cretan vineyard which blend harmoniously with the flavors of the Cretan cuisine.
TOUR AND TASTING
The winery is open every day of the year. The winemaker himself will welcome you to a place characterized by an aesthetic of austerity and measure. He will guide you through the winemaking facilities, the cellars and, next to the oak barrels, introduce you to the aromas and flavors of Cretan wine.
