The Merkouri Estate is an old rural wine-making company, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2018.
Five generations of the Merkouri-Kanellakopoulos family have been cultivating the land with love in an area of exceptional natural beauty by the seafront in Korakohori village, 4 km north of Katakolon, Ilia prefecture, and have been producing excellent wines and olive oil since 1864.
Since then, many things have changed, but one has not: our aspiration to make products of the highest possible quality.
Merkouri Estate today cultivates, in its privately-owned vineyards, the traditional variety Refosko, the Greek varieties Mavrodaphne, Avgoustiati, Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko, and Robola; the Italian varieties of Greek origin Negroamaro and Malvazia Aromatica, and the international varieties Syrah, Mourvedre Grenache, Viognier and Alvarinho, from which a series of premium dry and sweet wines are produced. At the same time, it produces extra virgin olive oil from its Koroneiki olive grove.
