VorOina of Athens, the wine event that holds a special place in the hearts of wine enthusiasts across Greece, is set to unfold this year at Zappeion Hall on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 12 noon to 8 pm.
This annual celebration of wine and spirits is orchestrated by the “Wine Producers’ Association of Northern Greece,” featuring leading wineries from the Northern Greek vineyards. It caters to a diverse audience, including the public, consumers, and professionals from the catering and wine trade sectors.
Embracing a renewed atmosphere and relocating to the iconic Zappeion Hall this year, VorOina promises the same joy and anticipation, bringing together aficionados and friends of high-quality Greek wine. Winemakers will display a wide array of wines and distillates from the vineyards spanning from Mount Olympus to Epirus and throughout Macedonia.
Visitors can indulge in an extensive selection, ranging from dry white, Blanc de noir, orange, rosé, and red wines to sparkling white, rosé, and red wines. The event also features semi-dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines, whether natural or fortified, along with unique wine distillates.
Highlights of VorOina include:
- Noteworthy wines from the demanding 2023 vintage, which yielded excellent results in Northern Greece.
- Exploration of Xinomavro in all its versions and expressions.
- Exclusive varieties cultivated solely in Northern Greece, such as Debina, Vlachiko, Limnio, Amassi, and Negoska.
- Wines originating from the highest altitude vineyards of Greece.
- The unveiling of Greece’s two single varietal red sparkling wines, from indigenous varieties.
- A sneak peek into experimental wines and newly launched labels.
To enhance the wine pleasure, the event incorporates parallel activities focusing on fundamental principles of wine appreciation and the promotion of wine culture. Attendees can participate in a masterclass, a blind tasting competition, and explore the award-winning wines and spirits from the “23rd Thessaloniki Wine & Spirits Trophy.”
