Naoussa, the wine city 2022, Friday 09 to Sunday 11 December
November started with the World Day of xinomavro grape variety and December begins with the great celebration of the Northern Greek grape variety in its homeland, Naoussa. From Friday 09 to Sunday 11 December, the heart of xinomavro fans beats at “Naoussa, city of wine” which will be hosted at the “ERIA” Building, in the historic city of Imathia.
The first day of the three-day celebrations has… a welcome party! Visitors will have the opportunity to leave behind the routine of work and the fatigue of the journey, having fun with music, food, and of course Xinomavro, in the beautiful “Kamini” area.
At the weekend, the Xinomavro of Naoussa will fill in the glass of the visitors. All the local producers – members of the Association of Naoussa grape growers and Winemakers, will be in the “ERIA” Building serving their wines and talking about their vision and work with wine lovers.
At the same time, a series of thematic events will frame the exhibition with unique tasting experiences as well as food for thought. So, while wine lovers will have the opportunity to officially taste the 2022 vintage Xinomavro for the first time, the challenges of Xinomavro’s diversity put us in a blind tasting, with DipWSET Kostas Provatas, to distinguish the unique characteristics from the 4 PDO regions of Xinomavro from Amyntaio, Goumenissa, Naoussa, and Rapsani.
We will travel through time with a special tasting from millesimes from 1974 to 2004 with fellow traveler DipWSET Dimitris Motsos.
Art will also frame Naoussa the City of Wine, as part of the collection “The Grape Harvest Season 2022” by @Kostello’sArt will be exhibited in digital format, in the Naias room in the Vetlance building (opposite the ERIA building)
Another tasty three days are coming!
Together with the host Naoussa Vintners and the Winemakers Association, the whole city will move to the rhythm of the Xinomavro celebration. Special menus and offers from local restaurants and wine bars, but also special prices from selected hotels for wine lovers who will visit beautiful Naoussa. The three days will close with the Wineries open for visitors, offering guided tours, tastings, and special events.
