One of the great festivals of Amorgos that takes place every year in the first days of September in the port of Aegiali is the so-called “Festival of the Xerotigana” or “diples” offered throughout Greece at joyful events such as weddings and christenings.
In Amorgos, they are prepared by… local hands and they sweeten the attendees especially on that day even more, since before tasting them, they assist in the cooking process! The evening includes the local instrumentalists with their local melodies and songs, the dance groups in local costumes, and the party until morning.
