Nestled in the charming southern region of Corfu, in Lefkimmi, our winery carries the spirit of resilience and tradition. The name Pontiglio, an old Corfiot word of Venetian origin meaning stubborn determination, perfectly embodies our journey. Since the 1980s, when Corfu’s vineyards faced the threat of extinction, our unwavering passion has driven us to preserve and celebrate the island’s winemaking heritage.
Corfu’s unique terroir is home to rare indigenous grape varieties, cultivated here for centuries. Remarkably, thanks to the island’s protection from phylloxera, our vines are ungrafted, ancient treasures that produce truly distinctive wines. We specialize in the white varieties Kakotrygis and Petrokoritho, and the elegant red Skopelitiko—all deeply rooted in the island’s history and character.
Although the winery officially opened in 2014, our vineyards have been in the family for generations. As far back as the 1960s, our ancestors lovingly crafted wine and sold it in Corfu Town. Today, we honour their legacy by producing around 20,000 bottles annually using time-honoured methods. Eschewing modern machinery, we press our grapes in the traditional strofilia, ensuring each bottle carries the authentic taste of Corfu.
