Description
Nestled in the storied wine region of Archanes, near Heraklion, Crete, Moinoterra Winery is a boutique estate where 4,000 years of Cretan winemaking heritage meet contemporary craftsmanship. Here, ancient terroir and modern vision come together to create wines of depth, balance, and authenticity.
Perched at an altitude of 550 metres on the foothills of Mount Juktas, the vineyards bask in the island’s crystalline light and are cooled by mountain breezes — conditions that nurture slow-ripening fruit and wines of remarkable elegance and expression.
Guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention, Moinoterra focuses on mature vines, low yields, and a deep respect for nature’s rhythms. Tradition and innovation coexist seamlessly, allowing each wine to speak clearly of its origin.
Winery Tour and Wine Tasting
- Archanes Boutique Winery Visit: Visit Moinoterra in the celebrated Archanes wine village and learn about this boutique estate’s vision of connecting 4,000 years of Cretan winemaking with contemporary craft excellence
- Archanes Wine Heritage: Discover why Archanes is one of Crete‘s most historically and viticulturally significant villages — home to Minoan wine-pressing facilities and centuries of continuous viticulture
- Wine Tasting: Taste Moinoterra’s boutique wines and experience the extraordinary combination of ancient Cretan winemaking heritage and contemporary craft in every glass
The portfolio celebrates indigenous Cretan varieties — Kotsifali, Mandilari, Vilana, Moschato Spinas, and Assyrtiko — each crafted to reveal its distinct site-specific character and purity of fruit.
The name “Moinoterra” fuses oinos (wine) with terra (land) and pays homage to the land of Minos, reflecting a timeless bond between Crete’s mythical past and its living vineyards.
