Description

Melisokomiki Dodekanissou (‘Dodekanissos Apiary’) was founded in 1999 in Rhodes and collaborates with more than 70 beekeepers from the islands in the region. It is the largest production and standardization company for apiary products in the Dodecanese islands, and uses extra modern facilities to produce the traditional sweet of Rhodes, the melekouni.

TOUR AND TASTING

Visitors can explore the amazing bee-society wandering under the unique three-dimensional ceiling as if they themselves were in a hive. In the bee museum, one can learn about the tradition and history of apiculture in Rhodes, the process of collecting honey, and discover all the valuable bee products: honey, pollen, beeswax, propolis and royal jelly. Visitors can also interact with the digital information booths as well as entertain themselves with the games of the interactive part of the museum and observe the bees’ lives through transparent beehives.
At our retail sales-room, guests are invited to discover a diverse selection of Greek honey at our tasting counter, where they can sample various varieties while also indulging in the authentic Rhodian delicacy, melekouni.
Finally, a walk at the Bees’ Garden will bring the visitor into contact with the herbs and the flowers the bees visit.
