Description
Our business proudly holds the distinction of being the first olive mill established in 2013 by the Ntambosis family in the region of Imathia, based in the village of Kouloura. From the very beginning, we invested in state-of-the-art technology, equipping our facilities with cutting-edge machinery for both olive oil production and quality control. At the same time, we embarked on our journey into olive cultivation, planting our very first olive trees — a step that marked the beginning of our passion for excellence from grove to bottle.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Immerse yourself in the world of premium extra virgin olive oil through an interactive, expert-led tasting session designed to awaken your senses and deepen your appreciation for liquid gold. Whether you’re a culinary enthusiast or simply curious, this experience will teach you how to taste, evaluate, and truly understand what makes a high-quality olive oil stand out.
The Art of Tasting
Learn how to properly smell, sip, and savor olive oil using professional techniques. You’ll explore the three defining characteristics of top-tier EVOO:
- Fruitiness – the fresh, green aroma of the olive
- Bitterness – a sign of healthy polyphenols
- Pungency – that peppery kick at the back of the throat
Varietal Exploration
Taste three single-estate olive oils made from different Greek olive varieties, each offering a unique profile—from smooth and buttery to bold and peppery.
Bonus: You’ll also sample one oil with a known “defect” —such as rancidity or mustiness—to help you recognize what to avoid in lower-quality oils.
Freshness & Quality Tests
Discover how to spot defects like oxidation or fermentation, and learn the truth behind terms like “cold-pressed”, “first harvest”, and harvest dates—key indicators of authenticity and quality.
Culinary Tips
Get insider advice on how to choose the perfect oil for different uses—whether you’re drizzling over salads, frying, or even experimenting with olive oil in desserts.
Food Pairings
Complete your tasting with freshly baked bread, enhancing the flavors of olive oil the traditional way.
