Ktima Perek is located in Monopigado, Halkidiki, Macedonia, 30 kilometres south of Thessaloniki, overlooking Mt. Olympus and the Thermaikos Gulf. The village is inhabited by many refugees from Pontus — a region of Turkey on the Black Sea coast where a Greek minority lived from ancient times before being driven out in the 1920s.
Built in the architectural style of a Greek mansion, Ktima Perek is a multi-functional venue with a restaurant, café, vegetable garden, animal farm, and children’s playgrounds. Ingredients come from local producers, processed in the estate workshop using handmade traditional techniques and cooked in clay pots in a wood-fired oven.
Visitors walk from the field to the plate, seeing vegetable and herb gardens and freely-roaming animals. In the workshop showroom, traditional Pontian and Greek handmade products are displayed with information about their characteristics. The visit culminates with a tasting of the traditional perek pie with an accompanying drink.
