Panagiotis Thamnidis (agronomist) and Panagiotis Kordosis (a chemical engineer) established the «Brewery of the Peloponnese” in the Nemea region, under the brand name “Karma Beer” using Leo, the lion wearing glasses, as the brewery’s trademark.
This project started several years ago when the founders had the opportunity to taste beers from Belgian, German, and Dutch brewers. They realized that beer was a completely different product from what we were used to drinking in Greece and they envisioned producing craft beers with a personality that consumers could recognize, beers with the brewery’s personal stamp reflecting new trends, and offer the flavors that modern consumers demand.
The “Brewery of Peloponnese” bears some significant comparative advantages such as to benefit from the advice of Avi Salev, perhaps Israel’s best brew-master. At the same time and given that the founders themselves participate in the production process and have a piece of professional knowledge, a more scientific approach is used to produce beer, not just by the repetition of established formulas but by creating new ones. Our logic is to brew beers using raw materials from Greece, thus supporting the Greek economy while making unique beers by using Greek malts, water from Nemea, and hops from all over the world, while hoping that one day we will produce and use Greek hops in all Karma Beer’s products.
Our motto is “Drink Local”. This is how we support Greece.
Good people drink Good Beer – This is Karma.
TOUR AND TASTING
Visitors will be introduced to craft beer and learn about the brewing process as they watch our brewers in action. Smelling the aromas of malt and hops, they will learn about the tastes of different types of beer.
They will enjoy tasting beer from three fresh samples drawn directly from the storage tanks while snacking on local appetizers prepared with fresh regional ingredients and traditional paximadi made from the same malt used in our brewery.
*For groups larger than 25 persons, reservations a week before arrival.
