Description
Gripioti Farm, situated on the Island of Skopelos in the village of St. George within the Kalogiros region, spans over one hectare. It offers a picturesque view of Chalkidiki and is conveniently located near the charming St. John’s Church, known for being a filming location for certain scenes in the movie Mama Mia. The farm specializes in cultivating organic dried black Skopelos plums, commonly referred to as “sweet mirabelles” in Skopelos, as well as organic dried sour Skopelos plums, known as “sour mirabelles.”
Tour and Tasting
Thanassis Gripiotis emphasizes his objective of providing visitors to the farm with a comprehensive and engaging experience that encompasses observing the trees and ovens-dryers, as well as immersing themselves in the entire production process until the creation of the end product. With a warm and inclusive approach, he extends a heartfelt welcome to all, offering delectable homemade sweets crafted from plums as a delightful treat;
During harvest, in August and September, visitors will also have the opportunity to sample fresh plums directly from the trees, as well as enjoy dried plums, and plum jam, accompanied by plum liqueur.

Reviews
We visited Gripioti Farm with our girls and it was AMAZING! Thanasis welcomed us with his mum and showed us around, letting us taste the plums fresh from the trees and the different stages of prunes. They were so delicious and we loved learning how he made them using more traditional word burning to dry the plums and a more high tech boiler system for others. We also got to taste the delicious sweet plums from a jar – these were like nothing you’ve tasted before – and finished with the plum liqueur. The views from his farm across the bay, including an incredible view of Agios Ioannis Chapel (the Mama Mia church) are worth the visit alone! The drive was a little bumpy on track road cut into the cliff in a small hire car, but an adventure in itself! Would’ve been no problem in our puck up from home, but worth a mention so you know to take your time! On the evening, we visited Thanasis restaurant in Skopelos, Platanos, and had some delicious food in the buzzy little square. Thanasis was also there and greeted us warmly and introduced us to his wife and son. Can highly recommend the lamb kleftiko and goat with plum. If you love traditional food, then a visit here is a must! Thank you Thanasis 🙏
