Description
At the Dio Fili (‘two friends’) Estate in Siatista, Macedonia, on the scenic Wine Route of the Lakes, the grape harvest is an invitation to participate in one of the most joyful traditions of northern Greek winemaking. The privately-owned vineyards sit in the area of Petrovo, at an altitude of 600–700 meters in the Kozani region.
Following the region’s long winemaking tradition combined with modern oenological techniques, Dio Fili produces PGI Siatista wine using sun-dried grapes of local varieties — xinomavro and moschomavro — blending three vintages (2001, 1985, 1978). French traveler Pouqueville described this wine in 1806 as Macedonia‘s finest, and it has since received awards from Bordeaux to San Francisco.
