Gatsios Distillery

In Istanbul (Constantinople) at the crossroads of East and West, of civilizations and cuisines, Thanassis Gatsios was inducted into the aromatic world of herbs and the secrets of traditional distillation.
In 1878 he returned to Syrrako, Ioannina, to the historic village, and founded the first distillery in Epirus. There, with recipes from Constantinople blended harmoniously with zeal and skill, created ouzo, tsipouro, brandy and liqueurs of various flavours, all of excellent quality.

TOUR AND TASTING

Visitors of our premises located in Arta will have the opportunity to watch the production process in one of the most state-of-the-art Greek distilleries and at the distillery’s reception area a museum where the visitor can learn about the stages of producing and bottling the products from the time of earlier generations to the present. Finally, a tasting session of ouzo, tsipouro, mastic and different liqueurs will conclude the visit.
