The Panagia Church, also known as Our Lady or Virgin Mary Church, holds a significant celebration on the 11th of June on the island of Tragonisi. Tragonisi is located near Mykonos, a popular Greek island known for its vibrant nightlife and stunning beaches. To reach Tragonisi, visitors embark on a boat trip from Mykonos’ Kalafatis beach, which typically takes around half an hour.
Upon arriving at Tragonisi, the absence of a pier requires the boats to be tethered side by side on the rocks. This arrangement allows visitors to disembark and begin their journey to the Panagia Church. However, reaching the small chapel of Panagia is not an easy task. It involves a rigorous trail that takes approximately another half an hour to climb. This trail can be physically demanding, as it requires stamina and proper footwear.

After the religious service, a unique tradition takes place. Only male visitors are allowed to participate in the subsequent festivities. These men bring their own food and settle down in a nearby red rock cavity to feast and celebrate.
Kopanisti, louza, sausage, quail, and a host of other local delicacies are the center of attention.
This gathering in the red rock cavity provides an intimate and communal atmosphere for the men to enjoy their meal together. It adds a sense of camaraderie and creates a bonding experience.
