“The route for the dynamic development of agrotourism in Greece” opens up, as a joint decision of the Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura and the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Evangelos Apostolou introduces a Special Agrotourism Sign and the framework for the operation of agro-tourism companies.
The conditions
Agro-tourism companies are established by those registered at the Farmers and agricultural holdings Register. They must necessarily have accommodation for up to 40 beds at most, and the accommodation may be on or off the farm or the agricultural utilization.
Agrotourism companies is a special category of tourist businesses operating with the Special Agrotourism Sign issued by the relevant Regional Tourism Agency of the Ministry of Tourism. Businesses already active in agro-tourism are required to acquire the Special Agrotourism Sign until the 31st of December 2019.
Special Agrotourism Sign can be obtained by farms as well as multi-functional farms if they have previously acquired a Multi-functional Farm Special Sign, as well as rural and mixed utilization farms. Also, within the boundaries of livestock farms, only non-main accommodation is allowed.
