ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Taste six wines from the rising star boutique winery, Haritatos Vineyard, located on the famous Ionian Island of Kefalonia, and get ready for some unusual pairing twists while spending time in one of the locals’ favorite spots, “Ramon,” in the heart of the Pagrati neighborhood. Enjoy each glass of wine with paired food complements of Greek island cheeses, charcuterie, and traditional sweet bites, and get introduced to the notion of water pairing. Learn from a family member about the different rare indigenous varieties—such as Kefalonian Moschato, Dry Mavrodafne, and Vostilidi—that won the heart of Greece’s wine scene in recent years.

Although Haritatos’ viticulture tradition goes back centuries, two world wars, a civil war, and other dramatic events such as a deadly earthquake in 1953 resulted in other needs and priorities. The revival of the vineyard and the decision to run a winery meant starting almost from scratch. With the help of your wine expert guide, discover how Haritatos Vineyard managed to stand out with its first-ever bottled wine, “Typaldo”—typical Kefalonian Moschato—that yielded as one of the best of its kind in the whole country and helped reinstate long-abandoned varieties of the region—amongst them Vostilidi bottled under the name of “Hariton.”

The wine tasting will feature the following six Haritatos Vineyard wines:

TYPALDO (dry white 100% Kefalonian Moschato)

ROZE HARITATOS (rose 100% Kefalonian dry Mavrodaphne)

MADEMOISELLE (red nouveau 100% Kefalonian dry Mavrodaphne)

JOYA (sweet 100% Kefalonian Moschato)

The complements are adapted to the seasons and inspired by our Chef, Panagiotis Vasilatos, famous for his mix & match talent. Three different bottled waters between wines will give you an idea of how a small twist can make a surprisingly great difference. This will be a “generous” tasting (you will be served 70ml— the norm in tastings is 50ml), so be sure not to come driving, otherwise, you will be bound to stay on our couch. This is not a joke! As a matter of fact, it is what Ramon is all about. It is not a wine bar, cocktail bar, restaurant, café, or pub. Think of this not as an experience but as an invitation to a very special place that always looks different yet always feels like home.
