Description
In 1991, the Dougos family embarked on a journey into the world of Greek wine, which would eventually lead to the creation of fascinating vineyards and top-quality wines. From the very beginning, the company placed great importance on the development of wine quality, as well as a deep respect for the environment. The vineyards have been cultivated organically, ensuring the well-being of both the land and the consumers’ health.
These principles were inherited by the second generation of the Dougos wine company, namely Thanos, an agriculturalist, and Louiza, a chemist and oenologist. With their expertise and passion, they continue to uphold the family’s ideals.
Situated at the foothills of Mount Olympus, in the enchanting Tempi valley, the winery captivates visitors with its proximity to the Tempi toll post. Nestled within one hectare of lush greenery and vineyards, the winery showcases 29 varieties of vines, offering a rich exhibition of the region’s viticultural diversity. The architectural style of the building is traditional, harmonizing beautifully with the historical elements that abound in the area. Moreover, it boasts breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Olympus, Kissavos, and the Pinios River.
While embracing tradition and heritage, the winery is equipped with state-of-the-art technological machinery for modern vinification, always mindful of environmental sustainability. The facility spans 500 m2 and includes a 250 m2 underground cellar where the red wines are patiently matured in French and American oak barrels, adding complexity and refinement to the final products.
