Description
The Vriniotis’ family winery is located in the small village of Gialtra in northern Evia, 14 km from the town of Aedipsos. The commanding position of the winery offers a panoramic view, overlooking the vineyard, northern Evia, the town of Aedipsos, and the Oreon channel that leads to the Aegean Sea.
Our privately owned 10 Ha vineyard extends from Gialtra to the foothills of Mount Telethrio at an altitude between 200 and 450 meters. It is on these slopes that the red varieties Vradianos, an old variety of northern Evia revived by the Vriniotis winery, and the local Mavrokountoura, as well as the cosmopolitan Syrah are cultivated alongside the white Greek varieties Assyrtiko, Malagοusia, Aidani, and Monemvasia.
The wider region of northern Evia is known for its therapeutic thermal springs, its extinct volcano (Lichades), its Lichadonisia (Lichada islands) and its quality wines. In the Iliad, Homer calls the region “multi-grape Istiaea” (Homer’s Iliad, Rhapsody B 537).
TOUR AND TASTING
The tour follows a unique route through the vineyard to the old winery, the new winery’s facilities and the underground cellar with the wooden barrels, and ends in the tasting area where visitors can taste and purchase our wines.
