Description

Mouriki Greek Premium Honey is a family-run business that has practiced nomadic beekeeping since 1960. Based in Dervenochoria, Voiotia, we manage over 2,500 bee colonies. As modern honey nomads, we travel across Greece—from Messinia to Thassos Island, and from Central Macedonia and Halkidiki to Central Greece, Evritania, Peloponnese, and the Cycladic islands of Milos and Kimolos. Our bees forage in diverse, pristine environments, free from human intervention, allowing us to produce top-quality honey and rare varieties. Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by the numerous quality and innovation awards we have won.

At Mouriki Greek Premium Honey, we view beekeeping as a fine art, a cultural practice, and a way of life. This philosophy is reflected in our unique, innovative packaging, where our jars are regarded as small Greek art objects.

Tour and Tasting

Visitors seeking a comprehensive beekeeping experience can visit Eleusis, just 15-20 minutes from the center of Athens, to meet Maria and Panagiotis, the dedicated beekeepers of Mouriki Greek Premium Honey. Eleusis is a historically significant site, known worldwide as the birthplace of the Eleusinian Mysteries and Aeschylus. It was also designated the European Capital of Culture in 2023. In ancient Greece, bees held a revered role, and beekeeping was a primary occupation for the people of Eleusis until the 1960s.

In May 2024, Maria and Panagiotis, third-generation beekeepers, opened a natural store only 200 meters from the archaeological site and the newly innovative Eleusis Museum. Here, visitors can sample over 14 rare and authentic Greek premium honey varieties, honeycomb, bee pollen, royal jelly, and other natural bee products.

Additionally, visitors can join a guided tour of a small apiary maintained by Mouriki Greek Premium Honey near the Eleusis airport. The tour includes a walk among ancient olive trees, peanut trees, and eucalyptus trees, offering an immersive introduction to the magical world of bees.

A visit to Eleusis can be enriched by combining tours of the archaeological site, the Eleusis Museum, and a honey tasting at the Mouriki store with a visit to the apiary. This unique experience is close to Athens yet deeply connected to nature and ancient history.

At our Eleusis store, visitors can taste a variety of rare Greek honeys such as oak, chestnut, lavender, pine, thyme, fir, heather, arbutus, orange, vanilla, and eucalyptus. Other offerings include honey with bee pollen and royal jelly, and honey with honeycomb. Travel with all your senses to Eleusis and the Mouriki Greek Premium Honey Store, where the ancient art of beekeeping comes alive.
