Description
My name is Anna Kaltsidou, and I am passionate about sericulture—the ancient art of cultivating silkworms.
From tiny eggs to exquisite silk threads, I have dedicated myself to preserving this timeless tradition and sharing it with visitors in Macedonia.
Nestled in the serene village of Makrynitsa, at the foothills of Mount Belles in the Serres region, lies the Koukouli Sericulture Unit.
Spanning 7 acres of lush landscape and featuring 800 square meters of thoughtfully designed facilities, Koukouli has been welcoming visitors since 2016.
At Koukouli, you’ll embark on a fascinating journey through the life cycle of silkworms — witnessing their transformation from eggs to cocoons and learning how these delicate threads are processed into luxurious silk.
Live Demonstrations: Observe the stages of silkworm cultivation up close. Interactive Activities: Feed the silkworms yourself and watch them grow day by day. Silk Reeling: Learn the intricate art of extracting silk threads from cocoons.
After your immersive artisan workshop experience, unwind at our charming café–dessert shop, where you can sample local delicacies in a tranquil setting.
Visit our showroom and boutique for exquisite silk accessories, jewelry, and home decor — all handcrafted and dyed using natural pigments.
Venture outdoors into our Beekeeping Park, where you’ll dive into the captivating life of bees and uncover the role these tiny pollinators play in nature.
Complete your visit with handcrafted refreshments and traditional spoon sweets made with fresh fruits and nuts harvested from our grounds.
