Description
Launched in 2015, this dynamic initiative aims to capture the essence of Greece—its culture, landscapes, and traditions—through visual storytelling and multidimensional activities that promote tourism and authentic engagement. Highlighting everything from music and mythology to archaeology and gastronomy, the project paints a vibrant portrait of the country for global audiences.
Central to its mission is the creation of Greece’s most comprehensive Commercial Guide, showcasing modern entrepreneurship and innovation. Over time, research revealed gastronomy as the most powerful cultural connector. This led to the 2022 launch of two major initiatives: The Journey of Taste & Tourism and the Anthology of Greek Gastronomy. Both elevate Greece’s culinary richness and support sustainable tourism and economic growth.
The initiative has spotlighted regions like Santorini, Halkidiki, Syros, Kythera, Lesvos, Pieria Olympus, Rhodes, Kavala and others , documenting local life and celebrating community resilience. It honors culinary figures through awards and international promotion, forming a living archive-The Anthology of Greek Gastronomy A–Z.
In January 2027, the journey culminates in Athens with the 1st International Forum of Gastronomy & Tourism, uniting Greek regions and global stakeholders. At its heart are the unsung heroes of Greek cuisine—individuals whose stories and flavors connect Greece to the world.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
A Heartwarming Celebration of Greek Rural Flavors
Presented by Executive Chef Sophia Stamou
With Cinematic Storytelling & Traditional Greek Music
Step into the warmth of a Greek countryside morning and savor the timeless flavors of a lovingly prepared rural brunch—just like Granny used to make. Set in the working fields and surrounded by the simplicity of nature, this traditional experience revives the nourishing rituals of Greece’s culinary heritage.
The Menu:
- Rustic sourdough bread, fresh from the village oven, crusty and warm
- Homemade dakos dough, the base of Cretan flavor tradition
- Wildflower honey and seasonal marmalades, naturally sweet and full of sunshine
- Strapatsada (eggs with ripe tomatoes), cooked over fire, just as Granny taught
- A variety of handpicked olives, brined and bursting with flavor
- Marinated onion and garlic purée, steeped in virgin olive oil with fragrant local spices
- Tomatoes, carrots & cucumbers, lightly marinated in olive oil and garden herbs
- Traditional rural sausages, made with local meat and generations of know-how
- A selection of Greek cheeses, rich, bold, and aged to perfection
- Fresh seasonal fruit salad, juicy, colorful, and sun-kissed
- Thick, creamy Greek yoghurt, served with a variety of nuts for a satisfying crunch
- Authentic Greek coffee, slow-brewed over the fire
- Iced mountain tea, pure and refreshing, infused with herbs from high-altitude fields
This unique brunch experience is accompanied by narrations in English by Executive Chef Sophia Stamou, who shares the stories, symbolism, and secrets behind each dish. The entire journey is captured on film, enriched with evocative cinematography and soulful traditional music, turning a simple meal into a heartfelt celebration of Greece’s gastronomic soul.
