Description
The idea behind this dynamic initiative was born in 2015 with a clear mission: to capture the essence of Greece from end to end—through image, sound, and a wide range of multidimensional activities that support tourism and create meaningful connections between travelers and the country’s rich cultural identity.
Through the lens of customs, folklore, tradition, gastronomy, natural beauty, myths, music, dance, archaeology, culture, and history, this visionary project brings to life a compelling portrait of Greece for both domestic and international audiences.
A vital element of this journey is the creation of the country’s most comprehensive Commercial Guide, which showcases the full spectrum of modern Greek entrepreneurship and innovation on a nationwide scale.
As international collaborations deepened and research, surveys, and global outreach expanded, one truth became clear: gastronomy is one of the most powerful and beloved expressions of Greek identity. Statistically, it resonates more than any other theme—offering warmth, authenticity, and connection.
Thus, on January 1st, 2022, two major initiatives were born under this growing vision:
“The Journey of Taste & Tourism” and the “Anthology of Greek Gastronomy.”
Together, they highlight the immense culinary wealth of Greece and elevate local efforts onto the world stage—fueling sustainable tourism and economic growth.
The visual storytelling of this endeavor began with Santorini (2015–2016) and continued through Halkidiki (2017–2019), Syros (2019–2020), and Kythira (2020–2021)—each destination captured through cinematic footage that reveals the authentic pulse of local life.
In 2022 and 2023, the Journey of Taste & Tourism expanded further—exploring Karpenisi, Nisyros, Kleitoria Kalavryta, Galaxidi, Arta, the entire region of Pieria, Folegandros, and Lesvos. In every destination, the team met locals who, driven by resilience and pride, strive every day—often under challenging circumstances—to offer visitors the very best of their land.
As the Journey continues, the Anthology of Greek Gastronomy honors the businesses and individuals who work tirelessly to preserve and elevate Greece’s culinary heritage. Through distinguished awards, global media promotion, and ongoing collaborations, these culinary ambassadors gain the spotlight they deserve—connecting their stories to a worldwide audience.
Research and filming remain active, contributing to the comprehensive Anthology of Greek Gastronomy A–Z, a living archive of Greece’s edible soul.
In January 2025, the initiative will culminate in the 1st International Forum of Gastronomy & Tourism in Athens—an extraordinary event that brings together regions from across Greece and welcomes global guests, top-tier international media, and tour operators. This Forum will open the gateway for travelers to experience the land of light, gods, and spirit through the universal language of food.
The true stars of this global celebration will be the heroes of Greek gastronomy—those who were discovered, recognized, and celebrated for their excellence and impact. Their stories will shine brightly on the world culinary stage, inspiring admiration and connection across cultures.
