Description
It all began with Grandfather Nikolaos—a true man of nature—who fell in love with bees and set up his first hives on the mountain closest to his heart: majestic Mount Chelmos. His deep passion for beekeeping was passed down to his son Giorgos, the founder of Chelmos Beekeeping, nestled in Ano Lousoi, Kalavryta.
Today, his four children carry on this legacy, bound together like a beehive—united by love, tradition, and expertise. With care and dedication, they produce 15 exquisite varieties of honey, including Thyme, Vanilla Fir, Wildflower, Pine, Oak, Strawberry Tree, Heather, Orange Blossom, Carob, Pine-Thyme blend, as well as organic honey, pollen, royal jelly, honey-based treats, sesame bars, and soothing beeswax balm.
Mount Chelmos, in northern Peloponnese, is a true botanical haven. Its slopes are home to over 1,500 plant species—from plane trees, black pines, and oaks, to willows, maples, and poplars. In total, 14 unique ecosystems have been recorded here, many with rare endemic plants. This rich biodiversity creates the perfect natural environment for thriving, sustainable beekeeping.
Tour and Tasting
Visitors are invited to step into the enchanting world of beekeeping, where they can witness up close the fascinating process of honey production and packaging. The journey continues with a guided tour through our lush botanical garden—an oasis of rare plants and vibrant aromas that highlight the deep connection between bees and nature.
The honey tasting experience is a true celebration of the senses. From the very first glance, each variety of honey captivates with its clarity and natural color—ranging from golden amber and sunny yellow to rich, dark brown—each hue telling the story of its floral origin and the unique landscape it comes from. As the aromas unfold and the flavors melt on the tongue, nature’s complexity and richness are revealed in every drop.
