Lykos Winery was founded in 1991 by Apostolos Lykos and is located on the lovely island of Euboea (Evia), just 80 km from Athens, in the Malakonta-Eretria region. Created to complement the family’s restaurant activities, the winery draws on its own vineyards to produce wines with a distinctive Euboean character.
Second-generation winemakers in the Lykos family honour local viticultural traditions through indigenous Greek grape varieties — Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, Athiri, Roditis, Vradiano, and Agiorgitiko — cultivated with cutting-edge technology. International varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Grenache Rouge, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah also contribute to the vineyard, giving the estate an international dimension.
Visitors explore the winery’s underground cellars housing carefully crafted oak barrels and the bottling line, then enjoy a guided wine tasting in the “Red & Green” room, adorned with the grandfather’s vintage-painted barrels. The Lykos family restaurant — with over 60 years of culinary tradition — offers a meal that complements the estate’s wines perfectly. A retail store selling both wines and locally sourced traditional products rounds off the visit.
