Description
The Tatsis family’s legacy in vineyards and winemaking dates back to ancient times in the region of Ano Vodenos, Eastern Romylia, which has been renowned for its viticulture for centuries. In 1924, the family’s grandparents, forced to become refugees, settled in Goumenissa, an area also well-suited for cultivating vineyards.
Over the years, the Tatsis family acquired 180 acres of vineyards in the regions of Limbaskerit and Gerakona. These areas boast optimal conditions for vine cultivation, with nutrient-rich calcareous soils that do not require artificial irrigation.
In their commitment to sustainable practices, the Tatsis family obtained organic certification for their vineyards in 1998. Then, in 2002, they embraced biodynamic methods, further enhancing the quality and uniqueness of their wines. This approach led to yields ranging from 300 to 700 kilograms per acre, reflecting their dedication to preserving the environment while producing exceptional grapes.
At the heart of their winemaking philosophy is the pursuit of purity and authenticity. The wines crafted on the estate stand out for their commitment to traditional methods and refusal to incorporate any oenological additives or enhancers. Only grapes of the highest quality, nurtured through organic and biodynamic practices, are utilized in the winemaking process.
Since 2007, the family has employed their own state-of-the-art winery, where they carry out the winemaking process meticulously. They prioritize the use of diverse-sized oak barrels, sourced both from French and American oak, for the aging process, allowing for a harmonious interaction between the wine and the wood.
Year after year, the Tatsis family consistently produces around 60,000 bottles of wine, each one a testament to their unwavering dedication to the craft. The resulting wines are a testament to their heritage, reflecting a harmonious union of tradition, innovation, and environmental stewardship, setting a high standard for exceptional, additive-free wines.
