The International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts, and Tourism (IGCAT) has recognised Gastronomytours.com as one of the Top 10 Websites for Foodie Travellers in 2025, celebrating its contribution to showcasing Cretan cuisine and the island’s rich cultural heritage.
The Top Websites for Foodie Travelers Award is a recognition given by IGCAT for the best websites providing unique, creative, cultural and gastronomic experiences across the globe. Through this project, IGCAT aims to encourage innovative, artistic, and sensory experimentation to create new and unique food experiences.
From visits to producers, tastings, farm and factory tours, cookery classes, craft-focused experiences, food and wine routes, markets, fairs, and museums dedicated to food heritage – just some of the exciting activities you’ll find on the award-winning websites!
All striving to promote local gastronomy, support producers, and celebrate unique food cultures. The winners of this prestigious competition curate exceptional food trails, wine experiences, visits to local producers, vibrant markets, festivals, and museums dedicated to gastronomic traditions, each designed to promote regional flavours and support local artisans.
The awards ceremony occurred on February 6 in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, hosted by Harghita – European Region of Gastronomy 2027. For the first time, the Region of Crete participated in the competition as the “European Region of Gastronomy 2026”, reaffirming that Cretan cuisine is a priceless cultural treasure.
