Muses Pierion

In the spring of 2011 in Katerini, Pieria prefecture, a group of unemployed women joined forces to unite their imagination, passion, pride and will for hard work in a common effort to overcome the financial crisis, but also to support the local economy and agricultural production by producing natural products, and become the No.1 social cooperative in Greece.
Their goals included:
• Creating jobs for unemployed women by producing homemade traditional products
• Showcasing the production of local fruit (kiwi, strawberry, cherry, etc.)
• Supporting in a quality-driven way the tourism offerings of the region
• Strengthening the local economy

TOUR AND TASTING

Visitors coming to our workshop will witness the production process of handmade traditional trahana and the production of traditional hilopites from Pontus (a region on the Black Sea on Turkey’s northern coast) called ivristo. They then pursue their visit at the retail shop on the ground floor, where they can try out our trahana, jams, and spoon sweets at a small buffet prepared for them.
