The Queen’s Tower Estate was inspired by Queen Amalia’s (1818 – 1875) vision of establishing a model agricultural facility, where innovative production methods would be applied for the modernization of Greek agronomy. A vineyard was among the estate’s first cultivated crop. Experienced viticulturists from Megara were hired to create the initial 18 hectares of vineyard. The character of this model farm, embodying its original vision, remains apparent today.
The four hectares of vineyard currently under cultivation are organic, as are the pistachio and olive trees also being grown. The location of the vineyard is the same as that of the original vineyard from the era of Queen Amalia. Efforts are underway to apply organized product and waste management methods, such as the composting of waste and utilization of horse waste.
The vines under cultivation produce Greek and European wine grape varieties, both white and red.

The tour lasts two-and-a-half hours and includes:
• A visit to the winery
• A visit to the organic vineyard and our botanical herbs
• A tour around Queen Amalia and King Otto’s Tower and surroundings gardens, a national heritage site of recent Greek history.
• The horse stables
• A wine tasting accompanied by cheeses and our homemade Greek pies, chesses and other treats.
