Description

The elderly Michael Kosmidis maintained a bakery in Istanbul/Constantinople that was known for its variety of delicious pastries. Following the catastrophe in Asia Minor of 1922, he came to Piraeus and opened a small bakery to continue making the delightful pastries and desserts of his homeland. His creations quickly became known outside his neighborhood for their quality and flavor. He made Macedonian halva, loukoumi, tulumba, kourabie, melomakarona, and other pastry varieties, selling them primarily in neighborhoods around the port of Piraeus.
His son, Evmorfios Kosmidis, distinguished himself for his skills and assumed management of the bakery after his father retired. He had learned the art of baking from his father and retained the same love and passion for baking his father’s recipes. He managed to expand the bakery and to create a brand for his goods all over Greece while keeping his family’s recipe a secret.
The nephew of Evmorfios Kosmidis, the grandson of Michael Kosmidis, together with two other pastry chefs who had served at his side for many years took over the bakery in 2002. With a clear vision that took the contemporary needs of the market into account, they created a first-class bakery and widened the variety of products they make.
