Description

Geraldine and Georges welcome all visitors all year round with warmth and generosity to their farm “La Maison Vert Amande”, which produces completely homemade and traditional honey. All the hives are distributed around our farm at Spathi in Kea Island of the Cyclades.
We harvest our honey with the greatest care and attention, collect it by hand and bottle it on-site in order to retain its subtle floral fragrance.
We do not cut corners or use honey for third-party producers. We are producers from A to Z, which makes all the difference, enabling us to guarantee the high quality of our honey that bears our neatly designed labels.
Our honey is produced exclusively by bees foraging locally the wildflowers around Spathi.
To ensure genetic quality, our swarms of bees are productive and healthy. Working with these insects is fascinating. We respect the bee and its work, we try to raise the awareness of consumers to respect the environment, make it possible for customers to access quality honey, and collaborate with neighboring beekeepers who respect the value of sustainable development and biodiversity. These factors, rather than intensifying competition which would weaken our profession, enable us at La Maison Vert Amande to sustain our business.
Georges is a beekeeper with over 30 years of experience. The size of our bee swarms is growing every year, but this growth is highly dependent on the extent of the crops, and each year the situation is different as crops can be abundant or low or almost zero. The result is immediate: investments to support the viability of our company.
We do not take beekeeping lightly. It is not like raising a dog or a cat. We realize that it has requirements, constraints, and we are met with difficulties. We encounter a series of problems that require the application of skills that cannot be found simply in a book. We need to reflect, study, spend time, listen, and maintain stability in our social and professional life. Life must be consistent with beekeeping.
Albert Einstein said “If the bee disappears from the surface of the world, man would have only four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination, no more grass, no more animals, no more people…”
At La Maison Vert Amande, our means are simple and effective. Because we are passionate and because our goal is to provide high-quality honey, we strive every day to enhance the development and well-being of our bees.
Come and let us share our passion for bees with you.
