In the Kefalas region, at the east of the Chania prefecture in Crete, Andreas Dourakis decided to set up a winery. He was inspired by his intense childhood memories. It was in the spring of 1988 when he opened the doors of his first winery, located at the village of Alikampos. After concluding his studies in Germany, where he acquired knowledge of the wine production, he was ready to move on to make his own winery. Moreover, having worked in several wineries in Greece and abroad he had the experience to manage the vineyards. The winery was relocated to its current position a few years later. Two main factors influenced the decision of the new location to build the winery and planting the vineyards. The first was the natural beauty of the greater Alikampos area, whose rocky terrain offers natural spaces to store and age wines. The other factor was the unique microclimate of the White Mountains.
In this remarkably beautiful environment, Dourakis family produces wines inspired by the Cretan land and its local grape varieties and hosts thousands of visitors year-round from all over the world.
Culinary lessons, art exhibitions, book presentations, artistic events, concerts, weddings, christenings and birthday parties are just a few of the activities that the winery hosts.

Come and get to know the winery up close and indulge in the magic of the mountainous Apokoronas. Enjoy a heady tour to the botanical garden, the ancient winepress, and the verdant valley. Visit the production, bottling, and aging facilities. Taste the richness of the wines in the specially designed tasting room and don’t miss out on the folklore museum and art gallery.
